Physalia physalis - The portuguese man of war, though it looks like a jelly fish, is actually a siphonophore - a colonial organism made up of smaller organisms called zooids, though differing in appearance they are genetically identical and operate as a whole.
They can be found in groups of 1,000 or more, floating in warm waters throughout the world's oceans. They have no independent means of propulsion and either drift on the currents or catch the wind with their sail-like air-filled floats or pneumatophores. To avoid threats on the surface, they can deflate these air bags and briefly submerge.
